The four passions which underpin my approach to software development:
1. Accessibility
My recent work history has been very much focused on inclusion and accessibility in
the digital world. I’m deeply passionate about making sure I do everything within
my ability to enable the widest possible user group are able to interact with projects
I work on.
2. Functionality
One of the main concepts that I keep in my head when developing projects is what would
it be like for the person who’s going to ultimately use this. Nice design is important,
bells and whistles can uplevel a project but it’s all for nothing if the product won’t
do what the user needs it to do in the way they need it done.
3. Engagement
I believe that every project should be engaging for the end user. A site or application
might be a pleasure to engage with because it simply saves time or makes a task easier.
Other projects can be made engaging because they are attractive and slick and yet others
might just have interesting elements or be outright fun to play with.
4. Efficiency
I work tirelessly to develop my skills so that as well as being able to undertake increasingly
complex projects, I can become more and more efficient. I work hard to increase my speed on
projects but also to ensure I write the most efficient, semantically clean code I’m able to.
